These beautiful Mahogany Foundry Lamps (pair) were created using vintage Mahogany Foundry molds from the 1920s.
These lamps embody the rich heritage of early 20th-century craftsmanship, where Mahogany foundry molds were revered for their artistry. Each lamp carries the distinctive patina of its history, showcasing the dedication of craftsmen who shaped industrial components with precision and skill.
Molds were meticulously created by pressing industrial parts into sand with clay mixed in to create the shape. Then the artists would step in to mold the mahogany into the shape, gluing together each piece. Molds were then placed together where molten metal was poured inside to create various components for industrial use (think compressor heads, fire hoses, and scissors). These lamps seamlessly blend vintage charm with modern functionality. Despite their wooden construction, their shapes resonate with the bold aesthetic of brutalism, echoing the artistic styles of Paul Klee and Picasso.
There is a small chip on the bottom back side of 1 lamp that is not noticeable from the front. See image. The wood shows wear and marks that align with its age.
-The off-white linen empire shade is included.
-Antique brass hardware with a dimmer switch on the socket.
-Antique replica brown woven cord/plug for 120V, North America.
